Lennon, Jim


Former Fine Gael Louth county councillor and Louth County Board chairman Jim Lennon of, Emlagh, Louth village, passed away on Thursday, January 19th, 2017. Co-opted onto the local authority following the death of his brother, Joe, in 1990, Jim served up until 2014. Widely known in GAA circles as a referee, who officiated extensively at club and intercountry level, he served as chairman of Louth County Board. Jim was also synonymous with St Mochtas, whom he served faithfully as both a player and ardent supporter. He won championship honours with the club in 1956 and St Mochtas GFC formed a Guard of Honour - alongside Fine Gael representatives and members of Louth County Board past and present - at his funeral.
