Byrne, Keith


Keith Byrne of Carnaloughe, Louth Village died tragically on May 11th, 2014 at the age of 35. Keith had spent most of his life living in Louth Village and was a member of the St Mochtas GFC junior football championship winning team of 2004. He also won a McArdle Cup medal with the Mochtas and represented Annaghminnon Rovers in gaelic football. Keith's talents weren't confined to gaelic football; he was also a key member of the Louth Utd. soccer team. His father John and uncle Brendan both played for Louth and the Byrne family is steeped in St Mochtas GFC history. Keith was a cousin of Louth and Mochtas star Declan Byrne and AFL-based former Wee County sensation Ciaran 'Casey' Byrne. A joint guard of honour was provided at Keith's funeral by members of St Mochtas GFC and Louth Utd.
