Tony Brosnan hailed Dr Crokes’ patience after the Killarney side produced a stunning late scoring surge to defeat Kenmare Shamrocks and claim their 15th Kerry SFC title yesterday.

Crokes were made to come from behind at Fitzgerald Stadium to earn a 1-24 to 2-14 victory, clinching their second county title in three years in the process.

Speaking to RTÉ Radio One’s Sunday Sport after the game, Brosnan reflected on the significance of the occasion and the rarity of county final days.

“It's surreal. I'm lost for words,” he said. “Like I said to the lads during the week, these can be the best days of your life. County finals don't come around very often. This is obviously our second in three years but before that we waited five or six years so it's unbelievable.

“David Shaw was immense there today. We have kickers all around the pitch and we've probably learned from the club final here six weeks ago where our shooting wasn't to the standards that we usually have them and basically we paid the penalty and we lost that game.

“So we knew we just needed to be patient. We've been patient in all the games and it served us well. So we knew when it got down to the nitty gritty of the game we had the kickers and the patience to get over the line.”
