Ballygunner are through to a 14th straight Waterford senior hurling championship final after brushing De La Salle aside with a 1-27 to 0-14 win at Walsh Park yesterday evening.
The holders produced the goods in the second-half to blow away their city counterparts and remain on course for a 13th consecutive SHC success in the Deise County.
Jason Ryan’s men had held a 0-11 to 0-8 lead at the halfway stage before dealing a hammer blow to De La Salle right at the start of the second-half when Conor Tobin fired in the game’s only goal.
Pauric Mahony came off the bench for the Gunners and kept the scoreboard ticking over for them, with Kevin Mahony, Ronan Power and Padraig Mahony also raising white flags.
Jack Twomey struck some superb scores for De La Salle at the other end, but it was the All-Ireland champions that comfortably advanced to another county final where they’ll face the winners of this afternoon’s meeting between Roanmore and Fourmilewater at Fraher Field (3.45pm).
