Cork midfielder Colm O’Callaghan has had the red card he received against Meath last Saturday week upheld by the GAA’s Central Hearings Committee (CHC).
O’Callaghan was given his marching orders by referee Brendan Cawley in the 50th minute of the Rebels’ All-Ireland SFC Round 1 win over the Royals at Pairc Ui Rinn for what was deemed a striking offence on opponent Ruairi Kinsella.
The Eire Og clubman brought his appeal to the CHC last night (Thursday) where the decision was taken to uphold the ban.
It means that O'Callaghan still stands suspended for Cork’s Round 2A clash against Donegal tomorrow week in Ballybofey (3pm).
