The race for the Andy Merrigan Cup is hotting up after a busy weekend of provincial club SFC quarter-final action.
In yesterday’s games, Tullamore trumped Tinahely for their first win in the Leinster club SFC since 1977 to set up a semi-final meeting with Cuala, while Ardee St Mary’s 2-9 to 0-8 victory over Rathvilly earns them a crack at either St Loman’s or Castletown in the same province.
Errigal Ciaran and Clann Éireann were victorious over Cargin and Newbridge respectively in Ulster.
Dr Crokes dethroned Castlehaven in Munster to qualify for a semi-final date with Rathgormack, while Éire Óg, Ennis will face Loughmore-Castleiney in the other last-four tie after accounting for Adare. Padraig Pearses’ surprise but richly-deserved win over Corofin saw them progress to a Connacht club SFC semi-final against Mohill.
The outstanding Leinster club SFC quarter-final between St Loman’s and Castletown will be played tomorrow evening in Lakepoint Park, Mullingar at 7.30pm, while the postponed Ulster club SFC quarter-final between Erne Gaels and Scotstown has been rescheduled for Brewster Park next Saturday evening at 5pm.
