Caoimhin Kelleher is the toast of Liverpool FC after scoring the winning penalty in yesterday's Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.
The Cork goalkeeper's spot-kick proved to be the winner after his opposite number Kepa Arrizabalaga blazed his penalty over to hand the Reds a dramatic 11-10 shootout victory after extra-time had failed to separate the teams at Wembley.
Kelleher's heroics were a cause for celebration in Dunmanway - the birthplace of Sam Maguire - in West Cork where his father and grandfather were former players with Doheny GAA. Indeed, Caoimhin's late father Ray coached Doheny to a Cork IFC title in 1995.
Well done Kieran. What Ray Kelleher contributed to the Doheny Club as a player and especially as a coach when Doheny won the County Intermediate Football Championship in 1995 was immense.Well done to Caoimhin. https://t.co/7eWAvrsZvU
