Tomás Ó Sé says Kerry have likely missed out on All-Ireland titles as a result of the number of players they’ve lost to the AFL. 

Ó Sé guided Kerry to the All-Ireland U20 football championship title in May, with two of the stars from that team - Daniel Kirby and Evan Boyle – both having offers from AFL clubs while Dublin star Charlie McMorrow has also recently been linked with a move Down Under.

Speaking on the Indo Sport podcast, Ó Sé described the practice by some of the AFL clubs as “sickening”.

“Right now, if those two young lads go over from Kerry – Daniel and Evan – that’s six of our lads that are over there, and I’d argue five of them would walk onto the Kerry team,” said the five-time All-Ireland SFC winner.

“That is out of hand. That’s leaving All-Irelands on the table at home.

“I would’ve argued a while back that we’re an amateur sport, we can’t go down the road of bringing money into it. But it’s going so bad. You see what’s happening with the ladies’ game...

“They basically look at any successful schools team, any successful colleges team, any successful minor team, any successful 20s’ team, and they hit hard there...

“I have awful anger because I just feel that maybe we need to look at ourselves. The GAA need to look at themselves. Are they doing more for them? The Aussies need to be looked at in the way they’re doing it.

“But ultimately, the young lad will probably go anyway ... it’s sickening.”
