Holders Naomh Conaill cruised to an emphatic win over Termon in Round 3 of the Donegal senior football championship yesterday evening.

It finished 3-23 to 1-9 at Davy Brennan Memorial Park, where Shea Malone struck a first-half goal for Glenties as they went on to lead by seven points at half-time.

Patrick Fegan pulled back a goal for Termon early in the second-half, but the reigning champions kept motoring and goals via Brendan McDyer and Eoghan McGettigan that would push them towards a 20-point victory.

Glenswilly secured a 1-18 to 0-16 win against Killybegs at Páirc Naomh Columba to chalk up their third straight victory in the Dr Maguire Cup race.

Minus the services of Michael Murphy, Glenswilly held a 0-8 to 0-6 lead at the break before falling behind in the closing quarter as Hugh McFadden was to the fore for Killybegs.

Darren McGinley’s men responded with unanswered scores from Daithi Gildea, Kealan Dunleavy and Shane Tinney (2) to move back into the driving seat prior to Cormac Callaghan’s goal wrapping up the win.

In Páirc Taobhoige, Kilcar made it two wins from two by seeing off Glenfin on a 2-16 to 2-11 scoreline.

Seaghan McCormick and Jack Hegarty swapped first-half goals, but it was the visitors that were on top throughout the first period with scores by skipper Eoin McHugh helping them to take in a 1-11 to 1-2 half-time lead.

Odhran O’Connor and Hegarty both struck goals inside the opening minutes of the restart and Kilcar would maintain their comfortable lead until the closing stages when a late flurry of points from the hosts left them five short in the end.
