Kilkenny boss Derek Lyng lamented his side’s “flat” display against Galway on Saturday evening in Salthill.

The Cats slumped to their third loss of the Allianz Hurling League Division 1A campaign on a 0-35 to 0-17 scoreline – their heaviest defeat in league or championship since the 1950s.

Speaking to RTE Sport afterwards, Lyng said took responsibility for the display which he described as being not good enough.

"From the get-go, we were just flat. Totally unacceptable from our side. It's not good enough. And we're very disappointed," he said.

"We have to be honest with ourselves. That was unacceptable. Everybody in there [the dressing room] knows that.

"From start to finish, I didn't think we had enough energy at all. We were way too passive. Look at, I'm responsible for that and it wasn't good enough.

"We have a lot of work to do and we have to get going. We can't do anything about it but we have to learn from it fairly fast."
