Ballyhale Shamrocks triumphed to a record 21st Kilkenny senior hurling championship title thanks to a 1-18 to 0-12 victory over O’Loughlin Gaels at UPMC Nowlan Park this afternoon.

Henry Shefflin’s side took control of this decider from the moment Eoin Cody netted their goal in the second-half, as they went on to pull nine points clear of the last year’s runners up.

In what was a repeat of the 2023 SHC final, which O’Loughlin Gaels won by a point, the sides played out an airtight first-half here which eventually saw them going in all square at the break on 0-8 apiece.

Cody hit the jackpot for Ballyhale shortly after the resumption and the points of TJ Reid (0-11) and Richie Reid would see the Shamrocks growing their lead to 1-15 to 0-10 by the 50th minute.

There was no coming back from the Gaels from there, as Shefflin’s men recorded a nine-point win in the end which sees their club surpassing Tullaroan at the top of the Kilkenny SHC roll of honour list with 21 titles.
