Brian Derwin’s first-half goal proved decisive as St Brigid’s (Roscommon) overcame Castlehaven (Cork) by 1-11 to 0-10 to return to the All-Ireland club senior football championship final for the first time since 2013.

Bobby Nugent (2), Derwin and Ben O’Carroll registered early points that saw the Connacht champions leading by 0-4 to 0-1 after just six minutes in Thurles.

Castlehaven pulled back a ‘45’ through county man Brian Hurley, but this goal from Derwin (watch it below) would provide a hammer blow to the men from the Rebel County.

St Brigid’s went on to hold a 1-7 to 0-6 lead at the interval and, while Hurley’s frees helped narrow the gap down to one, points from John Cunningham and Paul McGrath would ensure the Roscommon men’s win and a date with either Kilmacud Crokes of Glen at Croke Park on January 21st.
