Ciara Trant has been named as the new Dublin senior ladies football manager.
The four-time All-Ireland winning goalkeeper's appointment was ratified at last night's county board meeting. Trant takes over from joint-managers Paul Casey and Derek Murray, who she had worked with this year. The St Finian's club member has previous experience coaching and managing club and underage county teams, and will have Paula Jackson, Niamh Collins and Laura Kealy in her backroom team.
Another Dublin great, Noelle Healy, has been appointed as co-manager of the county U21s alongside her St Brigid’s club-mate and Donegal native Declan Patton.
Meanwhile, Dublin hurling captain and defensive stalwart Chris Crummey has announced his inter-county retirement, as per the Irish Independent.
The 33-year-old Lucan Sarsfields clubman captained Dublin to a Leinster MHC title in 2011 before going on to make his senior debut two years later. He was nominated for All-Stars in 2018, ‘19, and ‘24.
Crummey's retirement comes just days after fellow veteran Liam Rushe also called time on his Dublin career.
