Hanley departs as Roscommon senior hurling manager

Roscommon are searching for a new senior hurling manager after Brian Hanley stepped down following one season in charge.

Hanley informed the Roscommon hurling executive of his decision in recent days.

Under the Athenry native, Roscommon finished third in Division 3 of the National League before ending the Christy Ring Cup campaign at the bottom of the table. 

“Roscommon GAA would like to sincerely thank Brian for the commitment, dedication and professionalism he has shown to Roscommon hurling throughout his time as manager," read a statement.

County board chairperson Christy McDermott added: “On behalf of Roscommon GAA, I would like to thank Brian for the time, energy and commitment he has given to the Roscommon senior hurling team over the past year. We greatly appreciate the work he has done with the players and his management team, and we wish Brian every success in the future.”

“Roscommon GAA also extends its sincere thanks to Brian’s management and backroom team for their commitment and contribution throughout the season.

“The process to appoint a new Roscommon Senior Hurling Manager will commence in due course.”
