Gerry Hussey has left his role as performance coach with the Cork hurlers after just one season.

The Echo is reporting that Hussey has departed Ben O'Connor's backroom team after the Rebels' season ended with a surprise All-Ireland SHC semi-final loss to Galway.

Hussey replaced Gary Keegan in the role at the start of the year on the back of working with Ireland’s Olympic boxers, the Galway footballers and helping Tipperary to All-Ireland SHC glory in 2016. But the Galway native's involvement failed to inspire Cork to the Liam MacCarthy Cup after they had shown plenty of promise earlier in the season.
