Tyrone will be without Darragh Canavan for the latter stages of the Allianz Football League.

The Errigal Ciarán sharpshooter, who scored 0-9 in a man of the match display as the Red Hands registered their first win in Division 2 against Cavan yesterday evening, is heading to Australia for a month and will miss the last three rounds as well as the final should his side be involved. It means next weekend’s Round 4 clash with Gavin Devlin’s Louth will be his last appearance before the Ulster SFC.

Reflecting on Tyrone’s sparkling 2-23 to 1-14 victory, manager Malachy O’Rourke told reporters: “We knew the boys were training well – there’s a good spirit among them. I knew there was a determination among them to get the two points here today, but that guarantees you nothing.

“We know there’s plenty of tests ahead, but we’re just delighted to get this one here today. It makes for a wee bit prettier reading when you look at the table.”
