Peter Canavan reckons Paudie Clifford has ‘overtaken’ his more illustrious brother David as Kerry’s key man.

The Tyrone legend made his claim after older sibling Paudie scored 0-4 in a man of the match performance against Mayo in last Sunday’s Allianz League Football final.

“In terms of their key player at the minute, I think he (Paudie) has overtaken David as the most valuable player to this Kerry team at the minute,” Canavan said on RTÉ’s Allianz League Sunday.

"Against Tyrone I think he got over 50 possessions in the League, today he got well over 40 and the majority of them were constructive - not just easy passes side to side."

Speaking on the same programme, former Dublin star Paul Flynn was also full of praise for the Kingdom centre forward.

"At times, it is like he is playing a different game,” he remarked.

"They always say the guys that can create space are the ones to look out for. He literally can create space when he is getting man-marked. Enda Hession was trying his best to shut him down today but he just couldn't.

"It doesn't matter if you are right on top of him, he will create a pocket of space.”
