Donal Óg Cusack refused to use the controversial late refereeing decision not to award Robbie O’Flynn a 20-metre free as an excuse for Cork’s All-Ireland SHC final defeat.

Cork fans were livid with referee Johnny Murphy for not awarding the substitute a free-in to force a replay after his jersey was pulled by Clare corner back Conor Leen as he shot wide.

"I wouldn't hold that against Clare. Clare won the game. Robbie O'Flynn would still say he should have put the ball over the bar. I guarantee you. He still got his shot off," Cusack said on The Sunday Game Live.

The former Cork goalkeeper added: "It would be wrong. It would be wrong to let that colour the whole game. It was a foul, the jersey was pulled, but he still got a chance to put the ball over the bar.

"As a Cork person, and I'm aware who I am representing here today, I wouldn't be going on about that."
