Kerry and Derry will face off in a 2024 All-Ireland SFC quarter-final next weekend.

The repeat of last year’s semi-final is one of the stand-out ties from this morning’s quarter-final draw, which also paired Sam Maguire holders Dublin with Connacht champions Galway.

Eight teams went into this morning’s draw, with repeat All-Ireland group games and provincial finals to be avoided. This meant that Louth count not be paired with either holders Dublin or Kerry, while Armagh were guaranteed to avoid Derry or Galway and Roscommon couldn’t play Dublin.

GAA president Jarlath Burns was in the RTE studio this morning to perform the draw, which was conducted in three stages.

The first stage involved choosing from Louth or Roscommon to see who would face Armagh. The Orchard County were paired with Tyrone’s conquerors of yesterday Roscommon.

The second phase of the draw was to determine who would be paired with Dublin: a mouth-watering clash with Galway was the outcome.

In stage three, Ulster champions Donegal were drawn to play Louth – a first championship meeting of the counties - which meant Kerry will take on Derry.

All four quarter-finals will be played in Croke Park as two double-headers on Saturday and Sunday.
