Reigning Kerry senior football champions Austin Stacks will be playing their championship football in the intermediate ranks next season.
Less than 11 months after capturing the Bishop Moynihan Cup, the Tralee men suffered a 3-11 to 1-15 defeat at the hands of Kenmare Shamrocks this afternoon at Fitzgerald Stadium.
Stephen O’Brien, James McCarthy and David Hallissey all hit the Stacks’ net inside the opening 17 minutes in Killarney, with Michael O’Donnell netting at the other end as it the scoreboard read 3-5 to 1-8 at the half.
The Kieran Donaghy-captained Stacks did manage to cut the margin down to two points but Kenmare were able to see out the victory and cement their senior status for next season, with Kerry captain Sean O’Shea weighing with 0-8 overall.
