Ken Hogan added another feather to his managerial cap when guiding The Harps to an historic Laois SHC success last Sunday.
The former Tipperary All-Ireland SHC winning goalkeeper had the Durrow-Cullohill club in perfect tune as they finally came of age with a stunning 2-23 to 0-13 victory over traditional giants Camross at Laois Hire O’Moore Park. The Lorrha native also previously led Borris-Kilcotton to their maiden Laois SHC crown. In addition, he has delivered Offaly SHC titles to Birr, Coolderry and St Rynagh’s (three-in-a-row) as well as managing Tipperary to All-Ireland U21 glory in 2010.
Reflecting on The Harps’ breakthrough win, Hogan told RTÉ: "They have had success at minor and U20 level. To make that step further was a big thing and relegation last year was a chastening experience for the lads. The lads were out to make amends in a big way and thankfully we got over the line.
"We work with the lads, we talk to the lads, we thrash out everything and do our video analysis. Our mantra was always 'team before me'. Trying to produce that performance and today the guys produced a performance we were craving for all along."
