Mayo cruised into the semi-finals of the Connacht senior football championship with a 0-31 to 1-15 win over London in Ruislip this afternoon.

Two-pointers from Cian McHale, Paul Towey, Ryan O’Donoghue (free) and Michael Plunkett helped Andy Moran’s men to build up a 0-11 to 0-4 lead inside the first 20 minutes of this championship opener, and they’d send over two more from beyond the arc via O’Donoghue and Jack Carney to take in a commanding 0-17 to 0-6 advantage at the break.

London made the perfect start to the second-half that saw Michael O’Reilly netting the game’s only goal past Rob Hennelly a minute into the resumption.

However, it didn’t take long for the visitors to get motoring again as O’Donoghue (two frees) and Paddy Durcan sent over unaswered points.

Tommy Conroy and Jordan Flynn were introduced to the fray by Moran after that, with both substitutes getting on the scoresheet late on as the Westerners raised their tally to 0-30.

Jim Davis landed three two-pointers from play to help take some tarnish off the scoreline for the Exiles ahead of O’Donoghue, who finished with a personal tally of 0-11, rounding off the 13-point victory for Mayo who now face tomorrow's winners between New York and Roscommon (8pm Irish time) in the last four of the western province.
