Derry are set to be without star forward Shane McGuigan for Sunday’s crunch Division 2 promotion clash against Galway.

McGuigan was sent off on a second yellow card during the closing stages of last Sunday’s draw with Roscommon at Dr Hyde Park in an incident which saw opposing defender Brian Stack black-carded for pulling the Slaughtneil attacker to the ground.

McGuigan, who has hit 1-27 for the Oak Leafers thus far in the Allianz League, was handed a one match ban for a comment he made to referee Sean Lonergan after his dismissal.

He is now set to miss this weekend’s meeting with the Tribesmen with Derry set to appeal the suspension ahead of the Owenbeg clash.
