Eamonn Fitzmaurice has been formally ratified as Galway's new senior football manager on a three-year term.
His backroom team consisting of Lisa Fallon, Kevin Johnson, Gareth Bradshaw, Gary O’Donnell, Dave Morris and Ciaran O’Sullivan was also ratified at last night's county board meeting. The former Kerry All-Ireland SFC winning manager and player takes over from Padraic Joyce, who stepped away after seven years in charge two months ago.
Fallon brings considerable coaching experience to the set-up, having previously worked with Jim Gavin’s Dublin team, winning an All-Ireland title in 2018. She has also held coaching roles in soccer with Galway United, Cork City and Chelsea Women.
Ciaran O'Sullivan will combine his coaching role with the Tribesmen with those of Ballincollig and Ireland's senior men’s basketball assistant coach, while Johnson has stepped down as Galway U20 football manager to join the new senior set-up. Dave Morris is a link with the previous management, while Bradshaw and O'Donnell are former Galway footballers.
"Galway GAA confirms that the senior football management team has been formally ratified by the Galway County Committee at tonight's meeting," a statement read.
"We wish the senior football management team every success as they prepare for the 2027 season."
Meanwhile, Donal Ó Fátharta returns as U20 football manager, having been appointed as Johnson's successor for a two-year term.
Ó Fátharta, who led the Tribesmen to All-Ireland U20 glory in 2020, will be assisted by former All-Star defender Kieran Fitzgerald, Cormac Bane, Mike Comer and Brian O’Donoghue.
