Galway ladies captain Kate Geraghty says last year’s semi-final loss to Dublin after extra time had been something that played on their minds ahead of yesterday’s clash against Armagh at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

The Tribeswomen delivered a superb display to see off their Ulster counterparts by 0-21 to 0-8 and book a place in the All-Ireland SFC final where they’ll face Kerry, after the Kingdom dethrone Dublin with a comprehensive 2-16 to 1-9 win in Thurles yesterday evening.

Speaking to RTE Sport after her team’s win, Geraghty said that there’s “a new energy” within in the squad after the disappointment of how last year’s championship campaign ended.

"It's definitely been playing on all of our minds," she said.

"This year, we just had to regroup and there's been a new energy in the group and it's been great to see everyone pushing each other so hard at training as well."

On the conditions playing in yesterday’s clash in Longford, she added: "It was really tough in that heat. I suppose we just kept battling through but it was really tough. We were playing against the wind in that first half as well so it was just trying to tick over.

"Then we had the wind in the second half and it made it a bit easier."
