Jack O’Connor has expressed delight with Kerry’s recent upswing in fortunes.
Threatened by relegation just a few weeks ago, the Kingdom registered wins over Armagh and Galway in their last two games to qualify for the Allianz Football League Division 1 final against Mayo next Sunday.
“Look, I’m delighted. A couple of weeks ago we were staring relegation in the face before the Armagh game. It’s a big turnaround, that’s all I say,” the Kerry manager told the media after his side’s 3-24 to 2-19 victory in Salthill.
“Your back is to the wall every week in Kerry. That's the way things operate down there. But look, the lads don't take a whole pile of notice of outside noise or what other people outside the camp think.
“We were fairly sure we were doing a lot of good work internally and that's the main thing. If the players start losing faith in me or the coaching team, then you'd have a bit of a bother. But we were happy enough and the players were happy enough that we were going in the right direction.”
