Katie Murray from the Comeragh Rangers club in Waterford has been honoured with The Croke Park Hotel/LGFA Player of the Month award for October 2024.
Friday October 11 was a landmark date in Comeragh Rangers as the club captured Waterford Ladies Senior Football club title for the very first time.
A 5-3 to 1-6 victory over Ballymacarbry ended a long winning streak for the previous holders, who were aiming for a 43rd successive Déise crown.
But Comeragh Rangers tore up the script and 26-year-old Katie starred in the Final with a four-goal haul against the 2023 All-Ireland Senior club finalists.
Comeragh Rangers defeated Tipperary opponents Moyle Rovers and Aghada from Cork to progress to the AIB Munster Senior club Final, where they lost out to Kerry opponents Castleisland Desmonds last Sunday.
Despite that defeat, Katie and Comeragh Rangers can look back on the 2024 club season with a huge degree of pride.
Katie was joined on the club side by her sisters Aoife, Emma and Cora this year, while Katie, Aoife and Emma are triplets.
Katie was presented with her award today by Edele O’Reilly, Director of Sales and Marketing, The Croke Park Hotel.
