Colm O’Rourke’s future as Meath senior football manager remains uncertain following a county board management committee meeting last night.

Appointed for a three-year term at the end of 2022, subject to a review after the second year, the Royal County legend is eager to continue in the role, but must now wait until the end of the month for the review committee to make its recommendation.

Not all of the executive were present last night due to holidays.

It's understood that selectors Barry Callaghan and Stephen Bray have already stepped down due to work commitments, while there has been considerable speculation regarding the content of the player survey element of the review.

A short statement from Meath GAA read: "The Management Committee of Coiste na Mí C.L.G. met this evening (Thursday August 15) to discuss the ongoing scheduled review of the Senior Football Management.

"This review remains ongoing and will be concluded in advance of the Co. Committee meeting on Tuesday August 27."

Meath have had a mixed bag of results under O'Rourke, but there was disappointment at how the 2024 season ended following three straight defeats to Louth, Kerry and Monaghan in the All-Ireland SFC group series.
