The winners of Saturday’s Allianz Hurling League Division 2A semi-final between Offaly and Kerry will be in action seven weekends in-a-row.

Kildare await the winners in the final on the weekend after next and then it’s straight into three rounds of the Joe McDonagh Cup. The teams have already played over the last two weekends and the busy schedule has already taken a heavy toll on Offaly who have lost Oisin Kelly to a second cruciate ligament injury in as many years as well as Ross Ravenhill (broken ankle), Padraig Cantwell (knee), Eimhin Kelly (ankle ligament damage) and Brian Duignan (broken finger).

The congestion caused by the split season is being acutely felt by counties who don’t have the same strength in depth in their squads as the bigger counties.
