
Tipperary’s 2001 All-Ireland senior hurling championship winning team have been honoured ahead of the big game at Croke Park this afternoon.
Nicky English’s side from 25 years ago were the jubilee team honoured before the Galway and Limerick players crossed swords at 3.30pm.
Tipp defeated Galway by 2-18 to 2-15 in the capital a quarter of a century ago to claim what was the Premier County’s first Liam MacCarthy Cup since 1991.
Team captain Tommy Dunne lifted the famous trophy on behalf of his county that day and would also be named ‘Man of the Match’ having scores five points in the final, while Eoin Kelly registered 0-7 and Mark O’Leary bagged 2-1.
