Brian Hayes struck a terrific injury-time goal as Dublin dealt Galway their first defeat in this year’s Leinster senior hurling championship this evening.

It finished 3-16 to 0-21 at Pearse Stadium, where Hayes fired to the hosts’ net in the third added minute to secure the capital men’s third win in the Bob O’Keeffe Cup race.

After having held a 0-11 to 1-5 lead at the break, the Tribesmen stayed in front for 25 minutes of the second-half until Ronan Hayes grabbed Dublin’s second goal on the hour mark.

The same player would steer the visitors ahead with a point in his team’s next attack, with Donal Burke’s ‘65’ doubling their advantage with seven minutes left in normal time.

Scores at the other end from Cathal Mannion (free) and Colm Molloy squared things up in injury-time, but there’d still be enough time for Brian Hayes to fire in this winning goal (watch it below) which sees Niall Ó Ceallacháin’s side now on the cusp of a Leinster SHC final berth.
