St Brigid’s landed their 19th Roscommon senior football championship title by dethroning Padraig Pearses with a 1-16 to 1-12 victory at King and Moffatt Dr Hyde Park this afternoon.
After 60 minutes couldn’t separate them the last Sunday, the sides returned to the Roscommon Town venue for a replay showdown that saw Padraig Pearses storming in front with a Sean Canning goal in the 11th minute.

The holders pushed their lead out to three prior to a couple of Bobby Nugent points trimming the deficit and the same player would sail over from a free to put Anthony Cunningham’s men back in front in the 22nd minute.
Nugent doubled the advantage for his side minutes later and a Ben O’Carroll free left the scoreboard at half-time reading 0-10 to 1-5 in the 2023 champions’ favour.

O’Carroll registered the first two points of the restart ahead of Hubert Darcy and Eoin Colleran grabbing sorely needed scores for Pearses.
Paul McGrath shot over the 15th point of the afternoon for St Brigid’s ahead of Brian Derwin crashing in their goal to leave them with one hand on the Fahey Cup before O’Carroll’s free late on proved the insurance score.
