A picture of Kilcoo joint-captain Conor Laverty’s two sons Setanta and Conlaoch sleeping with the Andy Merrigan Cup has gone viral.
The celebrations after Kilcoo’s dramatic All-Ireland club SFC final extra-time victory over Kilmacud Crokes on Saturday must have gone on late into the night as the picture wasn’t taken until 5.37 the following morning!
Laverty, who doubles up as Down U20 boss, was lauded for insisting on having veteran manager Mickey Moran lift the Cup with him and Aidan Branagan in the Hogan Stand after the final whistle.
"Mickey, I'm going nowhere until you come up," said the long-serving forward as he eulogised about Moran's role in the Magpies’ memorable win.
TweetThe Andy Merrigan cup was in safe hands last night. I hope their dreams come true someday. They owe us a few days out in Croker. #apicturesaysa1000words #💙💙🏁 pic.twitter.com/exP8oEEcUb
