Antrim forward Ryan Murray has received a twelve-week ban following an incident during the Saffrons’ Tailteann Cup quarter-final victory over Fermanagh.

The news means that, bar a successful appeal, Andy McEntee’s men will remain without the services of one of their most important players for the first three months of the 2025 campaign.

Eliminated from the Tailteann Cup by Laois at the penultimate stage on Sunday, Antrim came back from behind to defeat Fermanagh by 1-11 to 0-11 at Brewster Park on June 15th.

Even though Murray wasn’t on the match-day squad for that game as he continues his rehabilitation from a cruciate knee injury that ruled him out for the entire calendar year, he was cited for a category four offence of ‘physical interference with an opposing player’.

A twelve-week ban was proposed for the Lámh Dhearg clubman and the GAA’s Hearing Committee found the infraction proven, meaning Murray will now be unavailable the first three months of Antrim’s 2025 season unless he can mount a successful appeal.
