This was the largest audience to ever witness a Dublin match -- period -- both in person and around the globe.

I think it's a good idea as it doesn't look great and will create more action around the restarts. ...and it will reduce the number of 45s we give away :-)

Should The Rebel Flag Be Banned At Cork Matches? - 4 Like(s)

Replying To Gleebo:  "It strikes me as either disingenuous or rather naive to think that this cancel culture is going to stop at the Confederate flag or John Mitchel, even if these are probably some of the stronger cases of problematic symbols/naming in GAA circles. Here is a non-exhaustive list of some similar issues which may come up in future and how they might be advocated for: Some rather uncomfortable writings penned by Padraig Pearse have come to light in recent years, so clubs in Roscommon and Galway might have to be renamed. There are hundreds of clubs across Ireland named after other Irish nationalists or revolutionaries, many of whom may have killed people. These too may have to go. Kevin Lynch's GAA club in Derry carries a lot of political baggage given that he was one of the hunger strikers. This is not in the spirit of an inclusive and pluralistic, Ireland. Pavee are a club with a name suggesting that it is exclusively for the Traveller community. This is non-inclusive. Any club with "Gaels" in the title suggests that it's exclusively the preserve of white Irish people. GAA stadia such as Croke Park, MacHale Park, Dr. Cullen Park were named after religious figures. This is not inclusive or non-Christians, atheists or agnostics. Michael Cusack, the first secretary of the GAA, has been accused by some historians of being an anti-semite. Cusack Park in Ennis and Westmeath would have to go, as would the Cusack Stand in Croke Park. The Irish tricolour is seen as offensive to many Unionists in the north as they equate it with Republicanism. No more flying of that at inter-county matches nor singing of Amhrán na bhfiann. Charles Stewart Parnell was an adulterer, this does not set a good example for young people. Any club or stadium named after him should be renamed. New York GAA fly the stars and stripes, but the US armed forces have been involved in illegal wars, drone strikes, land grabs, the Trail of Tears, nuclear testing. This veneration of that flag cannot continue. I am not suggesting that some causes shouldn't be considered, or that each case that I have listed above is entirely serious. But any impetus for change should come from the GAA membership, and should not be imposed by the superstructure, whether it's from the Ard-Chomhairle or outside agitators."
How many would defend Mitchell the same way if it turned out he was an informer instead of a racist?

2019 Division 1 League Final. - 4 Like(s)

Replying To GeniusGerry:  "Just to point out having looked back it actually wasn't a double hop, it only counts as a completed bounce if you catch it which he didn't, he flicked it on to Crowley. It was a perfectly legitimate goal and well done to the referee for allowing it."
I'm fairly sure it's not if you catch it again that it's a double hop. Friend of mine who's a ref explained it to me a few years ago and said it's when it hits the ground a second time it's a foul. He was telling me about some rules that people aren't aware of and end up going mental at the ref when he calls them. You can repeat hop it like basketball but not play it off the second hop.

Where were the tens of thousand of Dublin supporters for the away league games? Where were they for the Laois game in Kilkenny which didn't sell out? Expecting more tickets because you can bring a crowd for the big day in your own back yard smacks of entitlement. Mayo always bring big numbers with them and are probably able to source these extra ticket through years of unwavering support heading to Croke park. Many travel without tickets in hope of getting one. If they don't, they've spent a lot of money to sit in a pub in Dublin and stay in a hotel overnight while the likes of yourself can toddle on home an it only costing you the price of a bus fare.

That Macauley Tackle - 3 Like(s)

Replying To Joxer:  "Well if Keegan gets the ball and is fouled then it's a free isn't it? That's the punishment for a foul. Where was the ball on Sunday when Keegan ran over to Connolly, pushed and grabbed his jersey? Too different things no?"
Connolly was the first to grab the jersey and the first to raise his hand. He started that particular incident.

Tipperary v Mayo - 3 Like(s)

Replying To kevin03:  "Standard of refeering has been poor but unfortunately nothing will be done about it. It will be even worse next yesr with the mark being briught in. Not sure about the black card I fail to see how the ref was sure it was deliberate, as the rule states it has to be deliberate. To me it looked like a tangling of legs. They showed the replay of the red card and it looked like a shoulder and all the commentators said it looked like a shoulder. If it was for a strike then he deserved to walk."
I thought it was a black card as he was pulling him back and got tangled as a result. If he'd given a yellow, no-one would have complained but if you want your refs not to bottle the big decisions then Coldrick should be praised for not taking the easy way out. Only saw the front view of the red once but did he not punch him in the stomach?

Cavan Vs Kerry - 3 Like(s)

Replying To MadgeKing:  "Kerry played with a massed defence against a young Cavan team for 50 minutes and relied on frees from SOS to keep the scoreboard running. The 2 injuries to key Cavan men, resulting from robust tackles, gradually swung the game in their favour. Presenting this as a big win for a team of young lads is a bit much."
Don't you mean a young Kerry team?
