Three-time Tipperary All-Ireland SHC winner Séamus Kennedy has announced his inter-county retirement.
The 33-year-old enjoyed an 11-year career in the blue and gold, winning All-Irelands in 2016, ‘19 and ‘25. He was also nominated for an All-Star in 2016 and represented his county in both hurling and football at every level. Kennedy will continue to line out for his respective hurling and football clubs, St Mary’s and Clonmel Commercials.
“After 11 years playing with Tipperary, I have decided the time is right for me to retire from inter-county hurling,” he said in a statement issued through the county board.
“Wearing the blue and gold jersey was a dream come true, and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to do so.
“We’re lucky to have incredible people in Tipperary and I feel very privileged to have played and worked alongside so many top-class players, managements and backroom teams.
“I want to thank my teammates sincerely; I have made lifelong friendships with so many of them. I am also very thankful to the managers and backroom teams who gave me so much support and guidance.”
