Dublin’s Liam Rushe has retired from inter-county hurling.
The two-time All-Star made a surprise return to the fold this season under Niall Ó Ceallacháin - who was also his manager when Na Fianna were crowned All-Ireland club champions last year - after a four-year absence.
He started the Leinster SHC final, which Dublin lost to Galway, and has now decided to step away for good, confirming his retirement while on punditry duty with TG4 for their coverage of yesterday’s Offaly SHC final between Kilcormac/Killoughey and Ballinamere.
Rushe was handed his Dublin debut by Anthony Daly as a teenager in 2009 and went on to win Allianz League and Leinster SHC medals in 2011 and ’13 respectively. He also collected All-Stars in the same years.
