Former Kerry midfielder David Moran says Jack O’Connor’s side have shown resilience in returning to the All-Ireland SFC final given the injury set-backs they’ve had.

Hard fought wins over Tyrone and Dublin, respectively, have saw the Kingdom reaching their fourth Sam Maguire Cup decider in five years where they are now set to face Mayo on Sunday (3.30pm).  

Speaking to GAA.ie ahead of the big showdown at Croke Park, Moran says he’s been impressed by the perseverance shown by O’Connor’s group to get back there.

 "It was a very testing time for the squad given the level of injuries," said the three-time All-Ireland winner. "I think the level of injuries was probably a bigger concern than the results.

"You weren't playing with a full deck in any of the games. Credit to the medical staff, they got it right at the right time, and they've built nicely. You're just hoping you're playing with a full complement at the weekend.

"You've plenty of marquee draws - Armagh, Tyrone, and Dublin into Mayo in the final. Certainly, you haven't got the easier side of a draw or anything like that.

“It has been great, we've had plenty of games in Killarney, which has been great, and into Croke Park.”
