Clane GAA is in mourning following the passing of a former player after an illness borne bravely.
Craig Gartland passed away in the US on Sunday at the age of 34. He was a former dual player with the Kildare club.
“We are deeply saddened to reveal that Craig Gartland passed away this morning after a brave battle with cancer at the age of 34,” Clane GAA said in a heartfelt tribute on social media.
“Not only was Craig an accomplished footballer and hurler with the club, he was also hugely involved in coaching and volunteering and a great clubman.
“Craig has spent the last few years in the USA but he always kept an eye out for the club as well and calling in on any visit home and he continued to support the club from abroad.
“He never forgot his roots and his many friends at the club and his loss will be felt by everyone.
“Our thoughts go out to his wife Jenny, daughter Carissa, mother Yvonne, stepdad Johnny, Mattie, Ann and the rest of his relatives and close friends.
“Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.”
