John Kiely is refusing to underestimate Tipperary ahead of Limerick’s bid for an historic seven-in-a-row of Munster SHC titles.
Tipp were well beaten by Cork in the Allianz Hurling League final earlier this month, but the Treaty County boss isn’t reading into that as the local rivals prepare to face off at FBD Semple Stadium on Sunday.
"Tipperary have had a fantastic league campaign," Kiely pointed out in an interview with RTÉ.
"They have introduced a lot of new, very talented, very skilful, very fast players into their team and they have a lot of success behind them at underage as well. So they know what it is to win.
"So we're under no illusions. This is going to be a real test for us. We’re looking forward to it, but it’s going to be a tough game."
Limerick’s remarkable dominance hasn’t sated Kiely’s appetite for the Munster SHC.
"If you haven't got passion for the Munster Championship… I hope I’ll have it until the last day I walk into a stadium," he continued.
"Every game brings a life of its own. It’s a special competition and one we’re very honoured to be a part of. It’s going to be incredibly competitive. Five incredible teams.”
