Up-and-coming Offaly hurling and football twins Fionn and Robert Carney are seeking a transfer from Ballyskenach-Killavilla to Shinrone.

They were among 14 inter-club transfer applications made at last Tuesday’s county board meeting. The siblings were on both the Offaly minor hurling and football teams last year, and also won a minor championship double with SBK (Shinrone, Ballyskenach and Killavilla) and Cloghan, who were made up of players from across south Offaly, and denied Tullamore a clean sweep of football championship wins in 2023.

They would be a massive loss to Ballyskenach-Killavilla, who are struggling for numbers, but a major addition to 2022 senior hurling kingpins Shinrone by the same token if their transfers go through.

As with all the transfers, they will be deliberated on by the Offaly CCC who will make their recommendation at the February county board meeting.
