Opposition to the GAA’s link with Allianz remains strong in Tyrone where officials refused to sell programmes for last Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC Round 2A clash in Healy Park.

Members of Tyrone GAA’s communications committee and the local Omagh St Enda’s club declined to handle the match programmes for the game against Mayo which the Red Hands won thanks to a last-gasp Niall Morgan two-point free to reach the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals.

Furthermore, there was no Allianz signage visible inside the Omagh venue, while former Tyrone captain and manager Eugene McKenna was among a group of people outside the ground protesting against the National League sponsorship. It comes after several county boards had called on the GAA to end its association with the insurance group following a report released last year which alleged the company profited from Israeli forces being in Gaza.
