Ballyboden St Enda’s laid down an early marker in the Dublin senior football championship last night by dishing out a 17-point defeat to Na Fianna.
It finished 4-23 to 3-9 at Parnell Park, where goals from Darren O’Reilly, Daire Sweeney (1-5) and James Holland in the game’s opening quarter set the tone for the winners.
Brian O’Leary got a brace of sorely needed goals back for Na Fianna, but it was the 2019 champions that went on to hold a commanding 3-15 to 2-3 lead at half-time.
Ryan O’Dwyer (1-6) struck his side’s fourth goal in the 43rd minute to kill off any chance of a Na Fianna comeback, with O’Leary’s completed hat-trick in injury-time only proving consolation for the Glasnevin men.
The evening’s other SFC clash in the capital saw Ballymun Kickhams and Templeogue Synge Street playing out a 2-15 to 2-15 draw in Group 2.
