Liam Sheedy's resignation as Tipperary hurling manager this morning has prompted speculation that current Waterford boss Liam Cahill will be the man to replace him.
The opportunity to manage his home county could prove too tempting for the former All-Star forward, who delivered All-Ireland MHC, U21 and U20 titles to Tipp in 2016, '18 and '19 respectively. He also led Waterford to an All-Ireland SHC final last year and a semi-final appearance this year, beating his native county along the way.
William Maher and Richie Stakelum were in the running before Sheedy returned for a second spell as manager at the end of 2018, while Davy Fitzgerald could be an outside bet following his recent departure from Wexford. Kiladangan's Darragh Egan and former Hurler of the Year Tommy Dunne are among the other names who could be in the mix.
