Fourmilewater will contest their first Waterford SHC final next Sunday against 13-in-a-row chasing Ballygunner after seeing off Roanmore by 2-16 to 0-17 in the second of the weekend’s semi-finals at Fraher Field yesterday.

Celebrating their centenary year, Fourmile’ came from 1-6 to 0-12 down at half-time to make history. With Gavin O’Brien in fine scoring form, Roanmore led by three points before a Tholom Guiry goal in the 31st minute brought The Nire men level. O’Brien replied with a brace of points before the break, and Roanmore kept their noses in front until the 44th minute when Aaron Ryan restored parity.

It was nip and tuck from there until the 63rd minute when Liam O’Brien fired home Fourmilewater’s second major before Chris Ryan added the insurance point. Jamie Barron and Sean Walsh were in superb form for the winners, scoring 0-4 and 0-3 respectively.

In the other last-four tie on Saturday, All-Ireland club champions Ballygunner coasted to a 1-27 to 0-14 win over city rivals De La Salle.
