Brian Flanagan was ratified as Kildare's new senior football manager on a four-year term at last night's county board.

The Johnstownbridge clubman, who replaces Glenn Ryan in the role, was ratified along with Aidan O'Rourke - who managed his native Armagh to this year's All-Ireland MFC final - and former Kildare players Damien Hendy and Daryl Flynn. O'Rourke and Hendy will double up as coach / selectors.

Flanagan led the Lilywhites to All-Ireland U20 glory last year as well as to back-to-back Leinster titles in 2022 and ’23. He was also involved with Summerhill when they won the Meath SFC title last year.

Kildare GAA chairman Mick Gorman told delegates that Flanagan “ticks a lot of the boxes” for taking on the role.
