Death of Irish-American hurling figure Patrick Taylor

There is sadness in American GAA circles at the passing of Patrick 'Paddy' Taylor, who is credited with bringing hurling to Ohio.
Born in Akron but of Cork and Clare parentage, Paddy founded the Akron Celtic Guards Hurling and Camogie Club in 2002. A long-time member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Akron, he always sported a Cork jersey at GAA events.
The 73-year-old is survived by wife Deborah, children Ann, Alyssa, Tara, and Patrick and grandchildren Aidan, Ben, Grace, Rory, Dylan and Maddox.
Paying tribute to Paddy, Akron Celtic Guards Hurling and Camogie Club said: "It is through him we hope to continue his legacy of promoting Irish culture & community through sport. Our prayers and thoughts to his family at this time."
