The draws for the 2022 Offaly GAA championships took place at last night's county board meeting in O'Connor Park.

Champions Tullamore are in Group 1 of the SFC along with Ferbane, Shamrocks and Cappincur. Last year's runners-up Rhode are joined in Group 2 by Durrow, Edenderry and Clara.

In the SHC, holders St Rynagh's are in Group 1 alongside Kilcormac/Killoughey, Birr, Kinnitty and Clodiagh Gaels. Group 2 comprises last year's finalists Coolderry, Shinrone, Ballinamere, Belmont and Seir Kieran. The criss-cross system no longer applies in the SHC.

At the same meeting, Offaly chairman Michael Duignan strongly defended the controversial decision by U14 football development squad manager Declan Kelly to drop four players after they missed a recent training session to play a soccer match with Edenderry Town instead.
