Paddy McDermott's late goal sent Maynooth University through to next week's Sigerson Cup quarter-finals.
The Naas star was the Maynooth hero with his side's second green flag in injury-time giving them a 2-6 to 0-10 victory over St Mary's in a dramatic finale at the Davitts GAC grounds in west Belfast this afternoon.
Though Maynooth had the opening couple of points, it was St Mary's who forced the pace for the most part as they built up a 0-9 to 0-4 lead by half-time with Rory Kennedy and Sean Rock accurate in front of the posts.
But then the Ranch had to withstand a second-half onslaught from the visitors - whose opening goal was scored by Shane O'Sullivan on the restart - before being caught by McDermott's suckerpunch near the end.
Meanwhile, at the GAA Centre of Excellence in Abbottstown this evening, Ulster University and MTU Cork will fight it out for the remaining last-eight spot (throw-in 7pm).
