Kildare, Louth, Offaly, Wicklow and Wexford all enjoyed important victories in Round 2 of the Leinster MFC last night.

In Group 1, Kildare and Louth both made it two wins from two ahead of their final round showdown. The Lilywhites defeated Meath by 1-16 to 1-11 in Skryne after Logan Tennyson's 27th minute goal had helped them to a comfortable 1-10 to 0-7 half-time lead. Conn Brennan's 42nd minute major for the home side halved the deficit before Kildare sealed the win with late two-pointers from Greg Kelly and Jack Reilly.

Louth are also on course for direct qualification for the semi-finals after Connell Kelly - son of former star forward and manager Colin - inspired them to a 0-19 to 0-11 victory over Laois.

Narrow first round winners over Meath, the Wee County pulled away in the second half after the sides had gone into the break level at 0-8 apiece.

After losing to Dublin in Round 1, Offaly assured themselves of a preliminary quarter-final place at least after hammering Longford by 6-23 to 1-12 in Faithful Fields.

Goals from Oliver Goulding, Jamie Harvey, Paddy Burns, Darragh Stewart, Sean Monaghan and Shane Lawless secured a facile win for Adrian Farrell's men.

In Group 3, Wicklow overcame Carlow by 3-15 to 1-19 for their second win thanks to first half goals from Joe Keeshan, Odhran Cullen and Harry Butler, while Wexford registered their first win at Kilkenny's expense (2-15 to 1-4) after the sides were level at the interval.
